West Brom could sign Euro sensation on loan as sporting director shares update

West Brom can sign Oscar Fraulo on loan as official Borussia Monchengladbach update emerges
West Brom can now sign Oscar Fraulo on loan after an update has emerged from Borussia Monchengladbach.

It was reported by German news outlet Football Transfers on 10 August that the Baggies are one of five clubs that are interested in signing the 19-year-old midfielder this summer.

This comes after Gladbach’s sporting director Nils Schmadtke revealed the club are looking to send the Danish U-19 international out on loan in an interview on the Bundesliga outfit’s website on 8 August.

The Football Transfers report details that the other clubs interested in Fraulo alongside Albion are SV Darmstadt, Hannover, Vitesse and Brondby.

Gladbach complete signing of Danish youth international

That could potentially make it tricky to land the midfielder as Darmstadt can offer him Bundesliga football after recently being promoted, while a move back to his homeland with Brondby could be tempting.

The decision will probably be made between Gladbach and Fraulo, who is keen to get some more minutes under his belt after making just two appearances for the first team last season.

He signed for the club on a four-year deal from Danish side FC Midtjylland last summer and spent most of the last campaign turning out for The Foals’ second team, having played in 17 games in the Regionalliga West division.

Speaking about Fraulo’s potential loan, Schmadtke said: “Possibly we will award Oscar Fraulo to another club for one season. He is now at an age where he needs playing practice at the highest possible level.

“We are in open and transparent discussions with him and hope that it will work out with a loan so that he would then be ready to fight for a regular place here after his return.”

That development has put West Brom on high alert to his potential availability as Carlos Corberan is desperate to make more additions to his squad.
