Where Huddersfield Town stand in the transfer window as Neil Warnock seeks 2 Experienced Players To land
Neil Warnock has vowed not to bring in players for the sake of it as Huddersfield Town continue their search for new recruits ahead of the summer transfer deadline

It could be a busy end to the transfer window for Huddersfield Town. Boss Neil Warnock wants “two to three” new signings to boost his first team squad for the challenges that lie ahead.

The Terriers chief insists their recruitment drive will be based on quality rather than quantity over the coming weeks. The Championship club have so far only brought in goalkeeper Chris Maxwell and Tom Edwards on loan from Stoke City.

“We are always looking now,” said Warnock in the wake of their Carabao Cup loss to Middlesbrough. “We need to bring two or three in.”

Midfield and up front are the positions Warnock hopes to strengthen before the transfer window closes in just over three weeks time. He said: “I am looking for lads that will fit in. They have got to be better than what we have got.

“I am getting names thrown at me but they are not better than what we have got. I am looking at lads that will come straight into the team.

“We are confident we are going down the line for one (target). We have just missed out on another, which is disappointing.

“Hopefully we can get a couple of strikers. If one comes available that we think is good enough, then a midfield player as well.”

Warnock has been impressed with how young forwards Kian Harratt and Kyle Hudlin have acquitted themselves since he returned to the John Smith’s Stadium. The duo both got on the scoresheet in midweek as Town lost in the EFL Cup first round.

“The thing is you have got to get somebody that is better than Kian and Hudlin,” he said. “They caused problems them too.

“If we are not going to get anyone better, then I am not going to just have a gamble for the sake of it. I will go with them if I have to.”
