Fulham close to signing Wolverhampton Wanderers Brilliant player before man claush
Fulham are reportedly on the verge of signing former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.
The Cottagers have strengthened their squad this summer with the additions of Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez.
However, Fulham boss Marco Silva has made it clear that he wants to make further signings before the transfer window closes.
Speaking ahead of the new Premier League season, Silva told reporters: “We are really short on numbers. Seven players left, and when you sign just two players, we definitely need more faces in.
“We want to add quality, [but] I would have liked to have them earlier. I’ve said what I’ve said to the board. I am working with the owners to get this done as soon as possible.”
With the Fulham manager desperate for new additions, The Athletic are reporting that the Cottagers are close to completing the signing of Traore on a free transfer.
The Spaniard left Wolves at the end of last season, but he is on the verge of finding a new home in West London, with the proposed deal believed to be at an advanced stage.
During his five-year stay at Molineux, Traore scored 14 goals and provided 20 assists in 194 competitive appearances.
The 27-year-old, who rose through the academy ranks at Barcelona, returned to the Catalan giants in the second half of the 2021-22 season, featuring in 18 games during a brief loan spell.
Traore will bolster Fulham’s wide options, which have been weakened by the departures of Neeskens Kebano, Manor Solomon and Dan James.
Kebano was presented with a new contract offer, but he decided to turn it down and complete a move to Al Jazira in the UAE.
Solomon, who spent last season on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, has joined fellow London club Tottenham Hotspur, while James returned to Leeds United at the end of his loan spell.
Fulham will be looking to get off to a positive start when they kick off the new season against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
