Premier League Brentford Want To Sign Brilliant Player Report Claims

Premier League Brentford want to sign Rangers starlet Connor Young
Rangers starlet Connor Young has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League club Brentford, according to a report by the Daily Record.

Writing on their official website (14:04, 14 August), journalist Scott Burns reports that the west London club want to bolster their developmental squad with the 18-year-old forward.

Young joined the Gers from Hibernian last year but hasn’t featured for the first-team yet, and Brentford have been tracking him “for some time”.

“Brentford are keen on Rangers youngster Connor Young,” they wrote. “The centre forward is wanted by the Premiership side.

“The 18-year-old are looking to bolster their youth and development ranks The teenager has been on their radar for some time.

“Rangers signed him from Hibs last year. Young played in the B team in the Lowland League last season.”

Interesting

Rangers have always developed some top talent from the academy, and in attack recently we’ve been quite blessed with the likes of Rory Wilson and Robbie Ure.

But neither player is still at Ibrox after the former joined Aston Villa last year and Ure left at the end of his contract this summer for regular games elsewhere.

Michael Beale has added plenty of forwards to his squad this summer, with Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima and Danilo all part of a new-look front line.

So the chances of Young getting minutes in the first-team are slim, and a move to the south where the money is almost always bigger could prove to be more tempting to him.

Rangers would be entitled to a fee as he is under contract, and it will be interesting to see how the club approach this as it could be a chance for a small windfall to help balance the books.

In other Rangers news, battle on with Celtic and Premier League clubs for Scottish starlet.
