Sheffield Wednesday are in the race to sign free agent centre-back Liam Moore, reports Football Transfers.
Moore, 30, remains a free agent after being released by Reading at the end of last season.
The nine-cap Jamaican international made 233 total appearances for the Royals during a six-year stay, but saw his last couple of seasons at the club plagued by injury.
Now though, Football Transfers are reporting that Sheffield Wednesday and Championship rivals West Brom are among the teams eyeing up a potential deal for Moore.
Moore was a favourite throughout his time at Reading, with former Royals boss Paul Ince labelling the player as ‘super’ last season.
In total, Moore has 366 career appearances to his name, with 284 of those coming in the Championship across spells with Reading, Leicester City, Brentford, Bristol City, and Stoke City.
Wednesday in need of experience…
If there’s one thing that Wednesday need to add before September 1st, it’s probably Championship-experienced players.
They’ve done well to get 10 new signings over the line this summer, with the captures of names like Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba looking particularly impressive.
But most of Wednesday’s new players lack experience of English football altogether, so someone of Moore’s ilk would be very useful.
And defensively, Wednesday could do with some added quality, especially so after seeing them fall apart at Hull City last time out.
The Owls return to action v Preston North End this weekend.
