The most recent Birmingham City newsLive updates the squad before Blues’ Saturday matchup with Bristol City.
The news that George Hall has resumed training after missing Birmingham City’s first three games of the season has encouraged them.
Following his participation in training, John Eustace says Hall might be available for Blues’ weekend trip to Bristol City. Following a troubled preseason, Hall wasn’t selected for the team to play Leeds United last week as he works to regain his health.
Eustace will be without Tyler Roberts for a while due to a calf issue, so Hall’s return is timely. Roberts sustained an injury in training on Friday, preventing him from attending a reunion with Leeds, his former employers.
Roberts now risks missing the remaining August games for the Blues. Here is the most recent injury news for the Blues.
Injury to George Hall: ankle
Since April, Hall has had bad luck with injuries. Hall’s season was cut short by a hamstring injury, but he was healthy and ready for preseason play when he suffered a’slight strain’ in the days before the Blues’ opening friendly at Solihull Moors.
The midfielder resumed training in the final week of the preseason, but his ankle twisted during his first practice. Hall has returned to training with his colleagues at last.
George has trained for four or five days, so maybe he will play on Saturday, Eustace said (August 17). Although it’s crucial that we don’t push him, he has looked fantastic in training, and we are really happy to have him back.
Although it has been challenging for him, he has a great mental fortitude. He has been wonderful in the company of the group and is eager to rejoin them. We want him to get involved as soon as possible because he trained really well today.
Robert Tyler
Ailment: calf
Roberts began the opening day tie with Swansea City despite needing to manage a groin complaint toward the end of preseason. He was taken off after 60 minutes and rested for last Tuesday’s Carabao Cup triumph over Cheltenham Town.
Roberts had been practicing all week and was supposed to start against Leeds, but on the day of the game, he sustained a new injury. Tyler is a few weeks away, Eustace stated on August 17th. Tyler’s passing before the Leeds game was a severe blow. However, things could have gone much worse. It’s Tyler’s first preseason in six years, which is a huge benefit, as we have discussed. Tyler is going to be a fantastic player for us, so we have to stay optimistic about that.
Marc Roberts calf injury
The other Roberts started each of the five preseason games for the Blues before suffering a calf injury the night before the season opener against Swansea City. Eustace anticipates the 33-year-old will resume training the following week.
“Robbo should be back in training next Monday, which will be great,” remarked Eustace (August 17). We clearly lack in the center of the field.
Injury to Marcel Oakley: Hamstring
Midway through Blues’ 2-0 victory against Cheltenham in the Carabao Cup, Oakley experienced some hamstring tightness, and Eustace didn’t want to take any chances. This summer, the 20-year-old has served as Laird’s deputy.
Eustace (August 17) stated, “I think he’s a couple of weeks away.” I think Marcel did pretty well when he started the game against Cheltenham. He continues to grow in the right direction and there are many positives for him.
