Milan suffers a major setback as three crucial players will miss the Serie A season opening against Bologna.

According to a source, three AC Milan players won’t play in the team’s Serie A opener against Bologna since they weren’t asked to travel with the group.

Stefano Pioli has not called up Divock Origi, Alexis Saelemaekers, or Fode Ballo-Toure for the opening game of the season, as was previously reported by our friends at SempreMilan.it.

The season opener for Milan comes on Monday night at 20:45 CEST in Bologna, but not everyone is allowed to attend.

Saelemaekers might move to Real Betis if they pursue their interest. The three players in question have all been widely linked with departures from Milan this summer.

Origi is less likely to depart because he wants to play in the Premier League and there isn’t currently enough interest in him, but Pioli has decided to leave him out of the team despite this.

Ballo-Toure has appeared very close to moving for weeks, but Werder Bremen and a contract have not yet been reached.
