Leeds United Now Set to Make Amazing Signing – Medical Already Scheduled
According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United are set to sign Swansea City’s Joel Piroe by the end of the week. Signing the Dutchman is sure to be essential for the Whites as they currently lack a consistently available number nine.Leeds United Set to Sign Joel Piroe from Swansea City
Who is Joel Piroe?
Piroe is a Dutch centre-forward that has spent the past two seasons at Swansea City, averaging over twenty goals a season at the club. With just one year remaining on his contract in Wales, his club are looking to complete a sale in order to get as much value as possible from him rather than lose the player for free. Leeds United are one of several clubs with a reported interest, rivalling the likes of Leicester City and Southampton. Completing this deal will be a major coup for the club

According to Phil Hay’s report in The Athletic, the Elland Road hierarchy value their target at anything from £8-10 million. With interest from other clubs floating around there is every chance that this sum could become inflated, but with the new ownership’s emphasis on intelligent negotiations, it’s not likely to be too much more. A reasonably long contract is also expected, with the club continuing to focus on retaining talented players for as long as possible.
What Leeds United Need to Do Now?
Daniel Farke’s side still have a lot of work to do in the window. The club still desperately need a left-back with Sam Byram currently filling in in that position, and central midfield still looks relatively weak. With just over a week left of the window, Thorp Arch is sure to see plenty more arrivals.
Joel Piroe rejects new Swansea contract and is ready to sign for Leeds
Leeds United have gatecrashed Southampton’s plans to swoop for Joel Piroe and have satisfied the Swansea City hierarchy with a bid for the player. Despite the main decision makers at the club all being out of the country this week, which led us to beleive any deals would be put on hold it seems Paul Watson has managed this latest piece of Swans business.
It has to be said with the news of Paul Watson being the sole man at the helm this week we genuinely felt that any deals would be placed on hold. However, the caveat being any club wanting the likes of Piroe would have to meet the exact valuation placed on him by Swansea. It seems Leeds United have done that with no figures available at the moment.
Joel rejected a vastly improved contract offer on Tuesday uas we reported earlier on this week on Sunday.
Piroe contract offer
Joel Piroe will be offered a further opportunity to sign on at Swansea City this coming week, the club we are told have decided to improve his offer of last season considerably to keep the player at Swansea for at least two more years.Despite the club wanting some form of closure on Joel Piroe leaving the club there have been no genuine offers, yes, many inquiries but the clubs interested haven’t returned with anything tangible to discuss. As is usual our regular Sunday chat has revealed the Swans keen to secure Piroe at Swansea. Sources close to Piroe are aware that this week a formal contract offer will be made, and it will put the Dutchman at the top of the Swans salary pay scales by some way. What those details are of course will be held fairly close to the clubs chest.
The key here will be if Piroe even wants to consider this latest development. He has dismissed two previous offers as out of hand, not even willing to do that much talking or negotiate an improvement. He does have aspirations above the level he is playing at this season, however what is evident is his all round game isn’t inspiring any big offers or genuine interest with eleven days of the transfer window to go.
On the face if it a hundred thousand pounds a month plus is something ninety nine percent of Championship players would jump at. Included we are told will be considerable incentives regards goals, performance and promotion. Anyone who has watched Piroe over the last two games for the Swans will see a player very much out of sorts, even beleaguered at times, yesterday a point in case. To his credit all the ‘noise’ around him has not affected his behaviour and attitude, he still plays and attends training without any issues created. Yes, that’s what everyone expects of a player at any football club, but the reality as the Swans have witnessed over the past two seasons is far different.
If our information is right, and you only have to look at the more high profile reports on this website of late for some form of evidence from inside the club, then Piroe will have his contract doubled overnight. Plus a healthy sum for his consideration of course. A lot of this depends on the advice he receives far closer to home, but a contract of this nature when the player has very little else on the table will surely interest him ? We have seen Matt Grimes sign his new contract already in the past few days, a much improved contract as well. That security obviously far more important to him and his family than that of a younger player looking to test himself at the highest level.
This week should bring more news on Joel Piroe and where he see’s himself as a top rated Swansea City player. Whether he keeps the offer in his back pocket pending outside interest in the final week of the transfer window is a distinct possibility. That advice would be sound. However, the club it seems will now make their move to secure Joel Piroe at Swansea. For us that’s obviously something he needs, stability and security but at Championship level. And although it’s open to discussion, that really is where his level is as it stands.
That can’t be argued with, because that is exactly where he is.
