Former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez believes Leeds United target Facundo Buonanotte has similarities to that of Lionel Messi. The ex-Argentinian international, who played alongside Messi with his country, has heaped praise on the Brighton star.
Tevez says Buonanotte has no ceiling and can go wherever he wants to in his career. The 18-year-old has been linked with a loan move to Elland Road this summer, although there are conflicting reports suggesting this is wide of the mark.
Needless to say, the Whites are in need of a playmaker to create chances for their forward line. Leeds’ last Championship tenure saw Pablo Hernandez step up to the mantle and his performances in a Whites’ shirt saw him achieve legendary status.
There’s no one of his ilk or calibre in the current Leeds squad, with Daniel Farke keen on adding quality across the squad. Links to Buonanotte would fulfil that role, and the high praise from Tevez, likening his playing style to Messi, suggest it would be a great move.
Speaking in August of last year to Rosario3, Tevez said: “When he brakes and accelerates he reminds me of Messi. I haven’t seen a boy play like that for a long time, that gives me so much pleasure, and that I watch a lot of football.
“Facu has a great mentality, he doesn’t seem to be 17 years old. He is at a very high level, one thinks that he has no ceiling, it is where he wants to go . Today he is physically impeccable.”
