Following ties to Chelsea and Liverpool, Brighton is “closing in” on a record-breaking signing of Barcelona wonderkid with a €1 billion release clause. Soon, the “final green light”

Ansu Fati, a wonderkid for Barcelona, is reportedly planning a shocking loan move to Brighton, according to astonishing news from Fabrizio Romano this evening (August 30).
The 20-year-old Spanish forward, who has been linked to Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham among other teams, is one of football’s most talented young players.

Fati, a La Liga and Nations League champion, is under contract with Barcelona until 2027 and has a €1 billion (£846 million) release clause.

The 20-year-old is planning to relocate to Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton this summer, according to a social media post by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

As Barça are ready to accept the official proposal received on loan, the transfer specialist noted, “Brighton are drawing closer to a deal for Ansu Fati.”

Soon, the last green light, and then we’re off.

The Seagulls, who will compete in the Europa League this season, would make a significant statement by signing Fati.

The offensive player, who is a left winger by trade, would add to the already fierce rivalry for attacking positions in the team.

Tuesday, August 29, saw Albion complete the acquisition of young midfielder Carlos Baleba from Lille, pushing the club’s summer spending past £80 million, a record-breaking total.

Albion will still survive this.

“Brighton are closing in on Ansu Fati deal as Barça are prepared to accept the formal proposal received on loan,” the transfer expert wrote.

“Ansu Fati has accepted Brighton as destination — De Zerbi, key factor.

“Final green light soon and then here we go.”

The signing of Fati would be a huge statement of intent for the Seagulls, who will be playing in the Europa League this year.

The forward, a left winger by trade, would offer further competition for places in a team stacked with attacking talent.

Albion secured the signing of teenage midfielder Carlos Baleba from Lille on Tuesday (August 29) – taking the club’s spending for the summer above £80m, a record-breaking sum for the club.

Albion will still come out of this transfer window with more than £90m in profit; thanks to the sales of Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez and Alexis Mac Allister for a combined total of £170m.
