Manchester United have allowed defender Logan Pye to leave to sign with Burnley.
Burnley confirmed the move with Logan Pye pictured with the Clarets shirt.
The club announced: “We’re pleased to confirm the signing of youngster Logan Pye from Manchester United 🤝
“The 19-year-old has signed a two-year-deal a with the Clarets and will link up with the U21 side at Turf Moor.”
Logan Pye moves on
Manchester United signed Logan Pye in summer 2020, at the same time Alvaro Fernandez was signed from Real Madrid.
Both players went into the under-18s and then under-21s to compete at left-back, with Fernandez enjoying more success.
Pye, a former England under-16s international, saw his progress at United stunted by injuries.
This saw him only play 65 minutes in United’s FA Youth Cup winning campaign in 2022, with Sam Murray preferred.
Injuries have restricted Pye to making only five appearances for Manchester United’s under-21 side and all parties have agreed it was best for him to move on and make a fresh start at another Premier League club.
Joe Hugill stays put
Pye joined United from Sunderland as part of a double deal with striker Joe Hugill, who will be staying put.
There was speculation he could head out on loan, however, The Athletic reported today that Erik ten Hag ants to keep him around in the first half of the season and re-assess in January.
Hugill featured for the first team in pre-season, scoring in a friendly against Leeds.
