Despite being one of the busiest Premier League teams this summer, Ian Maatsen was spotted rejoicing after choosing to remain at Chelsea despite interest from Burnley. Burnley was one of Chelsea’s potential deadline day targets.
Since he was a teenager, Maatsen has been a member of the Blues’ roster. Last season, he performed admirably while on loan at Turf Moor, helping Vincent Kompany’s team earn promotion back to the Premier League. The Dutchman rejected the Clarets’ offer, which was approved with a £31.5 million transaction in mind.
Maatsen can be seen announcing his ambitions in a video that has been circulated on social media. After the video starts with footage from Sky Sports News, he declares, “I’m still here, up the Blues!”
However, Burnley did complete some late business with the additions of Logan Pye from Manchester United and Han-Noah Massengo from Bristol City. Pye, an FA Youth Cup winner, will first join the Clarets’ under-21 team.
On deadline day, Chelsea experienced some ups and downs of their own. Callum Hudson-Odoi joined Nottingham Forest for £5 million, and Cole Palmer completed a £42.5 million transfer from Manchester City, while others left on loans.
Diego Moreira, Bashir Humphreys, and Mason Burstow have all made matchday squads this season as Pochettino utilized the talents of the academy early on. Moreira will experience Ligue 1 with Lyon, while Burstow, Humphreys, and Swansea will all spend the season in the Championship.

It signals the end of a busy summer during which Chelsea also made more than £200 million after selling Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, and other players. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League can still move forward if they try to complete more transactions before their deadline on September 7.
Prior to this weekend’s match against Nottingham Forest, Pochettino stated, “We knew that there were going to be players coming in and players going out, it was going to be difficult to change the squad in the way that they wanted to change.” Both of the teams’ matches from last season finished in draws, with Raheem Sterling scoring twice in the game at Stamford Bridge.
He continued, “We offer our support and work incredibly hard on the practice field to try to lessen the impact of the players that arrive with little training, are injured, or haven’t played in a few weeks. “Young players who have played outside of England and need to know the Premier League. We are concentrating on a lot of things that will lessen the bad effects.
