Sam Morsy, a midfielder for Ipswich Town, is one of the candidates for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month honor, although manager Kieran McKenna did not make the cut.
The Blues won three of their four league games in August, defeating Sunderland (2-1 away), QPR (1-0 away), and Stoke (2-0), before falling to a potent Leeds team that recently debuted in the Championship 4-3 at home.
Although a freshly promoted club has had one of the best starts to a Championship season ever, McKenna is not one of the four finalists for Manager of the Month.
The managers up for consideration when a judging panel of former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies sit down to make their decision are Enzo Maresca (Leicester City), John Eustace (Birmingham), Ryan Lowe (Preston), and David Wagner (Norwich).
To be fair, all four of those clubs went unbeaten in August.
The competition for Morsy’s spot in the Egypt team includes Stoke winger Andre Vidigal, Hull striker Ozan Tufan, and midfielder Gabriel Sara of Norwich.
