Portsmouth face with serious injury blow as key player set to miss out trip to Pride Park amid he’ll be out for weeks

Gavin Whyte, a winger for Portsmouth, has pulled out of international duty due to an injury as their issues worsen ahead of their trip to Derby County.

Whyte has left the Northern Ireland camp due to a hamstring injury he sustained after being substituted in the second half of their 3-1 victory over Peterborough.
Prior to Pompey’s Saturday, September 16 visit to Pride Park, the extent of the injury has not yet been determined.

Joe Rafferty, who incurred a three-game suspension after being sent off at Stevenage, is already absent from Pompey’s lineup for the match against Paul Warne’s team.

Additionally, Joe Morrell, a midfielder, is suspended after receiving a red card late in the Posh victory. Winger Anthony Scully has also been sidelined for the past three games owing to a knee issue, and he will soon get a diagnostic.

As he continues to heal from ankle ligament damage experienced during training, Kusini Yengi is likewise seen as doubtful. Tom Lowery is out after sustaining a knee injury against Bristol Rovers on the first day of the season.

Additionally, Josh Dockerill, a rookie pro prospect, is also listed as injured after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during preseason play in Gosport.

With three victories and three draws from their first six games, Portsmouth is the only team in League One to remain unblemished thus far.

In what appears to be a closely contested division this season, they are three points in front of Derby on the table.
