Did you really believe that Messi would simply enlist the two Barcelona boys, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, to travel with him to Miami?
The most recent rumours from Spain indicate that Inter Miami will proceed with the signing of French star player Antoine Griezmann.
The Atlético Madrid player has made no secret of his desire to play in Major League Soccer and his affection for the United States. There have been rumors that Griezmann would move to England ever since news of his discontent at Barcelona first surfaced. I believed that Griezmann was the kind of player that Toronto FC should try to obtain before signing Lorenzo Insigne, and I wonder whether Bill Manning ever felt the same thing. Griezmann went back to Atléti, TFC signed Insigne, and the rest is history.
The club is apparently ready to offer Griezmann a two-year contract worth more than $10.5 million USD ($14.3 million CAD) per year. This would make Griezmann the latest World Cup winner to join The Messi Show in Miami.
In addition to balancing a squad of Designated Players that would appear to already exceed the league maximum of three DPs, Griezmann is rumored to have a €25 million ($36.5 million CAD) release clause in his Atlético deal, which might prove to be a barrier for David Beckham and Jorge Mas.
Griezmann turning 32 is difficult to comprehend at this point. The Frenchman was said to be moving to the Metropolitano this summer, but with the transfer window closed, he is staying put. right now.
Would you support Griezmann moving to the MLS? Would you have preferred the Frenchman to Insigne or Bernardeschi at TFC? Please tell us in the comments.
