Harvey Barnes, a star for Newcastle United who has one senior cap for the Three Lions, is apparently considering transferring his national allegiance from England to Scotland.
Although he has only made one appearance for Gareth Southgate’s team, the 25-year-old moved from Leicester City to Newcastle this summer and has appeared to be on the verge of making the England team for some time.
Barnes might elect to play for Scotland in that situation, per The Times, as he would be eligible due to his grandparents’ citizenship and manager Steve Clarke is reportedly a fan.
Although some England supporters will undoubtedly feel that Barnes could play more for them than he has so far had the opportunity to, Barnes might be a terrific addition to the Scotland team.
