Player reacts on “intense” Fulham transfer speculation – Explains why he chose not to move

Lucas Ocampos of Sevilla has explained why he chose to stay at the club this summer rather than join Fulham.

The winger spoke to El Desmarque after a summer of uncertainty regarding his future at the Spanish club.

Ocampos appeared to be on his way out of Sevilla this summer, as the club prepared a full reconstruction under new director of football Victor Orta.

The Argentine was one among those considered for advancement in order to raise much-needed revenue and balance the accounts.

Fulham were interested in him, and a move appeared to be on the cards at one stage, with talks between the two clubs appearing to be progressing well and Marco Silva’s side offering substantial compensation to persuade him.

El Desmarque backs this idea, claiming that Fulham were ‘banking heavily on him’ and that Sevilla were willing to sell at the same time.
That never occurred, with the player remaining where he was and Fulham shifting their focus elsewhere.

“Above all, when you win things in this club and you have such a sense of belonging, despite not being a youth player, not being from Seville, and not even being Spanish.”

“When you find a place, you have to seize it, and I want to keep working with this team.” I don’t simply want to preserve what I won; I want people to remember me tomorrow, and that’s what I’m after.”
