Neil Warnock, the manager of Huddersfield Town, is about to resign, according to Eurosport1.
Despite Saturday’s 2-0 win against Rotherham, the 74-year-old’s relationship with the Terriers’ leadership is fraying.
On Saturday, Warnock’s Huddersfield side defeated Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.
And the visit of Stoke City on Wednesday is likely to be his final game in command.
A secret overseas boss is said to have been set up in advance of Warnock’s departure.
The former Sheffield United manager took over at the John Smith’s Stadium in February, when the club was 23rd in the Championship league.
He overcame the odds by retaining the Yorkshire club in the English second division, with Huddersfield finishing in 18th place.
Warnock then agreed to a one-year contract extension till the end of the 2023/24 season.
But, with Huddersfield sitting in 16th place after six games, he is set to step down.
In his post-match press conference, the former QPR manager stated that he will clarify on his future plans on Monday.
“I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished here,” he remarked. On Monday at one o’clock, we will have a press conference.

“It [social media] said it was my last game, so isn’t that incorrect?”
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time here and am not prepared to talk about it tonight.”
In response to Stoke City’s visit, he stated, “Of course I will [be here for the game on Wednesday].”
“I want to win and beat Stoke.” I’m just enjoying my football, the people and the atmosphere, and seeing the players put on a show like that.”
