Pep Guardiola has revealed that four Manchester City players are out injured ahead of Nottingham Forest’s visit to the Etihad Stadium.
Forest will travel to Manchester next Saturday (3pm) to face the current league leaders. Guardiola’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by Steve Cooper’s side earlier this year at the City Ground.
City, who have won five straight games, are dealing with injuries ahead of the weekend. John Stones, Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne, and Matteo Kovacic have all been ruled out of Saturday’s game against West Ham.
As a result, Guardiola was unable to designate a full matchday squad, and the quartet are unlikely to play in this week’s Champions League match against Crvene Zvezda.
However, there is still optimism that the quartet will be able to face Forest in time. “They are getting better,” Guardiola stated during a press conference.
“Not for tomorrow, but hopefully for Nottingham [Forest] tomorrow.” We require it because we do not have a large squad. Look what we accomplished without them.
“We require competition. We need Jack to compete with Jeremy [Doku], and it’s critical that both players believe they must perform well.”
