Charlton Athletic technical director Andy Scott has emphasized that, despite the fact that Addicks youth coach Jason Pearce demonstrated his abilities when working with the first squad, he is on his own path.

Dean Holden was let go by the League One club last month, and Pearce stepped in to take charge of the first team for a short period of time.

Michael Appleton has been hired as the new manager of the Addicks, but Pearce gave them their second win of the season, defeating Fleetwood Town 2-1 before the international break.

Scott emphasized that Pearce has demonstrated his abilities while working with the first team and that he is a significant asset to the Addicks.

Pearce has returned to his prior post following Appleton’s arrival, and Scott has stated that they would continue to assist Pearce on his path.

“Jason has stepped up and done an outstanding job.

“He’s shown the level he can be at when he wants to be in the first-team environment,” Scott told the South London Press.

“We want to support him because he is important to the football club.”

“He has a job that he wants to do, so we need to put together a first-team coaching staff that will allow Michael to be the leader and implement his attributes.”

Pearce, 35, ended his playing career at Charlton Athletic having previously played for Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Leeds United, and Wigan Athletic.
