In extremely encouraging news, Roy Hodgson returned to head Crystal Palace training on Tuesday.

The 76-year-old was taken ill earlier on Saturday and missed the game against Aston Villa.
“Unfortunately, Roy Hodgson was taken unwell earlier today and is not at Villa Park,” the statement said on Saturday.

“Roy has spoken with Paddy McCarthy, who will lead the team today with the assistance of Ray Lewington.”

“Roy sent the team his best wishes ahead of the game.” We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Roy.”

However, Hodgson has been certified fit to return, and the club has confirmed that he will be in charge against Fulham this Saturday.

Hodgson came out of retirement to keep Palace from being relegated in the 2022/23 season.

He then agreed to a one-year extension to manage the Eagles in 2023/24.

Despite a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa at the weekend, Palace now sits in ninth place in the Premier League.
