Wilfried Gnonto’s summer has been highly interesting, as the Leeds United striker appeared to be leaving Elland Road.
The youthful forward was one of the few bright spots in a poor Premier League season, which drew the interest of a few clubs.
In the end, he stayed at Leeds and was called up by Luciano Spalletti to the Italy national squad, which he discussed with Sport Mediaset, among other things.
One of the other things covered was the differences between England and Italy, and the forward brought up the two most natural analogies.
Outside of sports, he stated, “Life here is very different, but with the food, I was quite lucky because I came with my parents.” The weather is always the most difficult to predict. It’s a little depressing around here…. The level of football, on the other hand, is a plus. It’s amazing. “I’ve gone to many stadiums, and the atmosphere is always wonderful. However, I believe that Serie A is more popular in other countries than we realize. It’s a competition that has established history, and there’s a lot of respect for both Italy and the league.”
Despite being pulled out by Daniel Farke at the start of the season when transfer rumors swirled around him, the 19-year-old has returned to Leeds’ team and even scored.
He has one goal in four Championship games, striking the back of the net in a 4-3 away win over Ipswich.
