Report: Newcastle United fan is said to have been stabbed in the back during attack in Milan

NEWCASTLE UNITED are collaborating with Italian authorities following accusations on social media that a fan was stabbed last night.

According to reports, the fan was part of a group walking in a neighborhood near Milan’s center last night.

 

It’s possible that they were jumped by a group around midnight.

 

One of the Newcastle supporters is thought to have been stabbed in the back. Images on social media show a man being treated at the scene.

He is thought to have been treated in a hospital, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

“We are deeply concerned by reports that a supporter was seriously assaulted in Milan on Monday evening, and we are liaising with local authorities to understand the circumstances,” a Newcastle United spokeswoman stated.

“Our thoughts are with the supporter and their family, and we hope for a full and speedy recovery.”

More than 5,000 Newcastle fans have traveled to Italy to cheer on Eddie Howe’s team as they face AC Milan in the Champions League tonight.
