Barnsley to received transfer boost after completing the loan signing of another excellent forward.

YORK City have signed young forward Aiden Marsh on an initial one-month loan deal from Sky Bet League One side Barnsley.

The 20-year-old forward becomes manager Neal Ardley’s first signing following his appointment earlier this month, and the Minstermen’s 18th signing under new owners Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla.

Marsh has made a promising start to the season, scoring seven times for the Tykes’ Under 23 squad in the Professional Development League, including a hat-trick in their 4-2 victory over Swansea City last month.
Marsh first joined the South Yorkshire club in 2014 from Sheffield United, working his way up through their youth-team set-up before earning a professional contract in 2020.

During that spell, the young talent had scored three times for Barnsley’s Under 18s, earning his Under 23 debut against Bolton Wanderers in 2018 aged just 15.

He was also rewarded with a call-up to the England Under 17 training camp in 2019.

Highly rated by the club, Marsh made his professional Tykes debut in the 2021-22 campaign against AFC Bournemouth, and was handed his first start in April 2022, going on to net the opening goal against Preston North End.

The exciting talent arrives at the LNER Community Stadium with some Vanarama National League experience under his belt, having featured three times for Scunthorpe United, including their 1-1 draw against City, before a fractured foot injury de-railed his season.
