Nottingham forest receives boost as Pep Guardiola reveals £43m Manchester City player would not play against Nottingham Forest clash

Bernardo Silva will be sidelined for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League encounter against Nottingham Forest, according to Pep Guardiola.

During City’s first Champions League group game against Red Star Belgrade, the midfielder was forced off the field.

With the Citizens poised to return to domestic duties this weekend, Guardiola has provided some information on Silva and how long he will likely be out.

Silva will not play against Forest, according to Guardiola.

Guardiola had this to say about Silva and his injuries during his recent press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Forest.

“It’s a minor injury,” he explained, “and he’ll be out for a week to ten days.”
Prior to Tuesday’s European match, the 29-year-old has appeared in five games for City, scoring one goal and providing one assist while also playing the whole 90 minutes on four occasions, demonstrating his importance to the squad.

Silva will be a significant absence for City against Forest, who have picked up seven points from their first five league games of the season, after scoring his first goal and providing his first assist of the season in City’s previous league encounter against West Ham United.

However, Guardiola’s statement that Silva, who the club paid £43 million to sign in 2017, suffered a minor injury in midweek and could be out for 10 days is a plus for City.

Moving forward, the Spaniard must devise a strategy to defeat Steve Cooper’s side without the Portuguese international, and hope that they can maintain their pristine league record.
