Despite barely being at the club for a month, Leeds United striker Joel Piroe is the team’s joint-top scorer in 2023.
As attention quickly shifts to Leeds’ next Championship encounter away from home, all eyes will be on how Daniel Farke’s attack exploits Southampton’s poor record.
Joel Piroe has four goals so far this season, making a strong start following his big-money signing from Swansea City in August.
How is Piroe faring?
He went scoreless in his first two outings for Michael Duff’s Swansea City before joining Elland Road for £10.5 million.
The Dutchman, though, didn’t take long to break his duck in Leeds colours, scoring on his debut against Ipswich Town in the Whites’ first win of the season.
Since then, he’s added three more goals to his total against Millwall and Watford, helping Leeds to two more victories as the season gets underway.
A concerning statistic has emerged.

It doesn’t matter for Piroe and the rest of the team right now, but Piroe’s goals have exposed how terrible Leeds have been in front of goal in 2023.
Opta statistician Jonny Cooper revealed on X that the 24-year-old is the club’s joint-top scorer in 2023, with four goals.
