Newcastle United have suffered another injury setback this week, with Harvey Barnes ruled out for’months’ – see the club’s current injury list for more information.
The £38 million summer transfer was injured in the early stages of Newcastle’s 8-0 triumph over Sheffield United on Sunday, his second competitive appearance for the club since joining from Leicester City.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe also stated that a handful of his players have fitness issues ahead of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup encounter against Manchester City (8 p.m. kick-off), but he did not clarify.
Alexander Isak has been selected despite playing through a knee injury in recent weeks.
Newcastle’s third-round cup encounter on Wednesday will be their fourth in 11 days.

Joelinton (knee) is injured.
Joelinton, who is recovering from a knee injury, will be hoping to be back in contention before the international break. He was photographed returning to the training site before of the Manchester City encounter.
Paris Saint-Germain (H) is expected to return on 04/10.
Harvey Barnes (foot) has been ruled out.
Following the findings of a scan on Monday, Harvey Barnes faces months on the sidelines with a foot ailment. As the team awaits additional advice from a physician, the 25-year-old may require surgery.
Return date: TBD (November 2023-January 2024).
Joe Willock (Achilles) is no longer available.
Joe Willock hasn’t featured for Newcastle since May and will miss at least the next four after picking up an Achilles injury.
In terms of the Champions League, he will be hoping to be back involved in time for the trip to Borussia Dortmund in November.
Willock suffered a hamstring injury last season before experiencing another setback in his recovery with a new Achilles ailment.
Crystal Palace (H) – 21/10 expected return
Emil Krafth (ACL) is now available.
Emil Krafth hasn’t played competitive football for Newcastle in more than a year, and he was left out of the Champions League team as he recovers from a significant knee injury.
He has returned to training with the team, but it will take some time for him to come back up to speed and be ready for selection in a competitive game.
Crystal Palace (H) – 21/10 expected return
