Chris Wood of Nottingham Forest has been named the club’s highest-paid player.
The Athletic published an article today that included every Premier League club and the player with the highest weekly wage.
In the Forest piece, journalist Paul Taylor stated that the 31-year-old striker earned a whopping £90,000 per week.
New signees Ibrahim Sangare, Nicolas Dominguez, and Divock Origi are all thought to be paid in the same range, with the latter earning roughly £90,000-£100,000 per week at AC Milan.
However, it is unclear how much of Origi’s wages the Reds will cover.
Nottingham Forest’s top earner is Chris Wood. Steve Cooper’s side has made some outstanding additions in the previous year since their return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.
Unfortunately, the acquisition of Wood from Newcastle United appears to have been a dud.
The New Zealand forward initially joined the Reds on loan with an obligation to buy after a specific number of games.
His contract was made permanent this summer for £15 million on a one-year contract, with the striker earning £90,000 per week.
With wages, the club will have spent roughly £20 million on the 31-year-old, who may only be at the City Ground for one season if the Reds do not offer him a new contract.
He has scored crucial goals for the club against Manchester City and Sheffield United, but overall, the signing of the striker has been a disappointment.
