According to the Express & Star, West Brom managing director Mark Miles indicated to fans that encouraging negotiations have taken place with possible buyers, with the club on the market for roughly £35 million.
On September 26, the newspaper announced on its website that any prospective purchaser would be expected to cope with the club’s existing debt as well as have the financial means to govern a Championship club.
There is hope that an agreement with a new owner can be struck before the end of the year, with Miles reminding fans that he is now working on the sale of the club with WBA Group director Xu Ke.
Everything that has happened recently with West Brom, particularly in terms of ownership and management, has been dismal and depressing. This revelation, on the other hand, will give Baggies fans hope that there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
Miles revealed the update to fans earlier this week during a meeting with the Action For Albion campaign group, and his personal involvement in the process would be welcome news to Baggies fans who had been concerned about who was supervising the potential sale.
If the new owners arrive before the end of the year, as has been indicated, it will reduce the need to sell first-team players to help fund the club and pay off debts, as would almost likely be the case under present ownership.
This announcement comes only days after talkSPORT host Simon Jordan suggested that with the right investment, any prospective buyer could turn West Brom into a £200 million club [20 September], offering fans lots of hope and a vision for the future.
