The AC Milan management are looking for a new left-back and they have their eyes on Valentin Barco of Boca Juniors, a report claims.
According to SportMediaset, Barco is one of the targets Juventus are looking at but they also have to deal with competition from Brighton and Real Madrid who have clearly entered the race for the defender.
However, they state that rumours are coming from Argentina about a possible interest from Milan, who are looking for a deputy to Theo Hernandez after failing to land one during the recent summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old is an Argentina U20 international and he has attracted the Rossoneri scouts, who will be able to take advantage of the non-EU slot they have left.
An attempt to sign Barco could be made as early as January. However, Milan will have to either pay the €10m release clause in his contract or negotiate a fee.
Pioli: ‘Pulisic gave Milan some useful advice about Borussia Dortmund’
Stefano Pioli expressed his confidence ahead of Milan’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, noting how his team need to ‘take advantage of every little opportunity’.
The Rossoneri got off to a tough start in their European campaign, being held to a goalless draw by Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United. The other game in Group F saw Paris Saint-Germain beat Dortmund.
Except for their disappointment against Newcastle and collapse against Inter in the derby, Milan have looked strong this season and are level for first place in Serie A with their intercity rivals on 18 points.
Pioli originally discussed Borussia Dortmund’s strengths with Sport Mediaset via TMW.
“Borussia Dortmund are a top-tier opponent who hasn’t lost in the Champions League at home in two years.” They have good offensive players and a tight-knit club. They are a Champions League rival.
“The important thing is that the team have a mentality and a style of the game. I obviously hope to always have everyone available, but the important thing is that the team are a team. We are here to play our game.”
He admitted he took some pointers from Pulisic, who spent time with Dortmund before making the move to Chelsea.
“We talked, it will be his 50th appearance in the Champions League. We talked about his past here, he explained to us what we will find and also gave us some useful advice.”
The Rossoneri coach spoke highly about star winger Rafael Leao.
“He is constantly developing and completing himself.” For him, every match is an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.”
Finally, Pioli emphasized the type of game he expects Milan to play against Dortmund.
“They’ll try to get off to a fast start because they have five quality offensive players.” Two teams will compete, each attempting to put the opposite defenses under pressure.
“We’ll have to be good at working together to attack and defend.” We’ll have to be decisive and take advantage of every opportunity.”
Dortmund is presently fourth in the Bundesliga league after six games, having won four and drawn two.
