Lee Evans  has issued a poignant message to fans following surgery on his damaged knee yesterday.

The Welsh midfielder was injured while captaining the team in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Huddersfield.

It’s the latest in a series of knee problems for the 29-year-old, who has already had three setbacks during his stint at the club.

And, in a message shared on social media, the star revealed that he’s decided to finally have surgery to fix the issue, having tried to play through pain.

He wrote: “The highs and lows of football! From leading out the team against Premier League opponents this time last week and captaining the team on Saturday in the league, to surgery this week.

“I’ve tried so hard to play through pain, with the issues I’ve had over the last couple of seasons and avoid surgery so I can be back available for the club as soon as possible, whenever they needed me, it was always my priority.”However, the moment has come for me to have the surgery that will resolve all of my concerns and allow me to return to playing my best football!

“I appreciate everyone’s messages of support; they mean a lot!” “Let’s go get it.”
“Lee Evans unfortunately has an MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury, so he’s going to have surgery tomorrow,” Town manager Kieran McKenna said after Town’s win over Hull City on Tuesday night.

“It’s very disappointing for him and for the football club because he’s a great player and person.

“After speaking with him, I believe he can now resolve the couple of issues he’s had with a surgical repair.”

“That will keep him out for a while, but if all goes well, it should give him a knee in really, really good shape, giving him a chance to have a good run at his career again, because he’s been really unlucky with it.”

“We’re disappointed with that for us and for Lee, but I’m sure he’ll throw himself into the recovery and come back strongly again.”
