Newcastle United will meet West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, hoping to pick up a point on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies won 4-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek, which will put them in a good mood for this encounter.

Eddie Howe will line up his team in a 4-3-3 shape and is expected to make a few alterations to his starting lineup for this game. Elliot Anderson and Jacob Murphy will both have opportunities to participate from the start of this competition.

4-3-3 Newcastle United’s Expected Lineup Against West Ham United

Defence

Nick Pope will operate in between the sticks for the Magpies after shipping in one goal in his last outing. Fabian Schar will resume his partnership with Jamaal Lascelles at the heart of Howe’s defence as they look to keep the West Ham attackers at bay during the game.

Kieran Trippier will be a nailed-on starter as the right-back while Dan Burn hopes to give a good account of himself as the left-back. Howe will ask both of them to keep things solid at the back and offer some decent service to the front players.

Newcastle United

Matt Targett and Lewis Hall will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Elliot Anderson, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they focus on making life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to be at the top of their game if the Magpies want to earn a good result at the London Stadium this weekend.

Sandro Tonali will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.

Attack

Jacob Murphy could get a chance to impress as the left-winger while Miguel Almiron looks to make a difference for Newcastle on the right flank.

Alexander Isak will lead the line for the Tyneside club down the middle. He failed to register a goal in midweek and would be eager to find the back of the net versus the Hammers this Sunday.

Callum Wilson is a major doubt for this game as he is struggling with a thigh injury.
