Bruno Guimaraes finds himself on the brink of suspension, having accumulated his fourth yellow card of the season during Sunday’s 2-2 draw against West Ham. According to Premier League regulations, any player who receives five yellow cards within the first 19 league games will face a one-match suspension. This means that Bruno is treading on thin ice in the upcoming 11 matches.
Our next match is against Crystal Palace a week from Saturday, following the international break. If Bruno receives a yellow card in that game, he will be unavailable for our clash with Wolves on October 28th. Alternatively, if he manages to avoid a booking against Palace but gets one against Wolves, he will miss our home game against Arsenal on November 4th.
This situation echoes Anthony Gordon’s absence from yesterday’s game in East London. He had received his fifth booking of the season in our 2-0 victory over Burnley.
In reality, Bruno was fortunate to escape a red card at West Ham, given his cynical foul on James Ward-Prowse shortly after receiving his initial yellow card at the London Stadium.
When (not if) Bruno incurs his next yellow card, we hope to have Joelinton and Joe Willock back in action, as our midfield depth has been strained with both Joes sidelined.
