Loic Remy, the former QPR player, has officially declared his retirement from professional football, according to a report from GetFrenchFootballNews. At the age of 36, Remy has decided to conclude his playing career, and his last club was Brest during the previous season.
Remy, who earned 30 caps for the French national team, had signed a short-term contract with a Ligue 1 team in February, which expired in the summer. His retirement announcement was recently made on Prime Video, leaving him with the decision of what to pursue next in his life.
This marks the end of the road for the former QPR striker. QPR had signed Remy in January 2013 to strengthen their attacking lineup while they were in the Premier League. Before moving to England, he had played for various clubs in his native country, including Lyon, Nice, Lens, and Marseille.
During his first year at QPR, the team managed to stay in the Premier League, with Remy making 16 appearances and contributing six goals. In the 2013/14 season, he was loaned out by QPR to Newcastle United, where he enjoyed a successful stint, scoring 14 goals in all competitions. Following his time at Newcastle, QPR sold him to Chelsea, where he found the net 12 times in 47 appearances before going on loan to Crystal Palace.
After leaving Stamford Bridge in 2017, Remy embarked on a journey across Europe, playing for clubs such as Las Palmas, Getafe, Lille, Çaykur Rizespor, and Adana Demirspor. He returned to France for a final season with Brest, but when the club decided not to extend his contract, he made the decision to retire from professional football.
