According to sources, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) are currently in advanced negotiations with striker Sinclair Armstrong for a new contract, as they aim to counter the growing interest from other clubs in the attacker.
Armstrong, who is in the final year of his current contract, is a key target for QPR, who are eager to secure the 20-year-old forward with a new, long-term agreement.
The robust forward made his breakthrough into QPR’s first-team last season, featuring in 22 Championship matches, primarily as a substitute with a significant impact.
In the ongoing season, Armstrong has contributed one goal and two assists in 11 Championship games. However, it’s not just his statistical performance but also his overall display that has drawn the attention of clubs higher up the football hierarchy.
Notably, both Crystal Palace and Celtic have shown interest in Armstrong, sending scouts to observe his performances during this season.
Armstrong’s impressive form at QPR has also earned him international recognition, as he made his debut for the Republic of Ireland in a Euro 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands last month.
Negotiations between Armstrong and QPR are progressing positively, and the Championship club is optimistic about persuading the striker to commit his long-term future to the Rs.
QPR, led by manager Gareth Ainsworth, currently find themselves in a challenging position, ranking 22nd in the Championship table as they head into the international break. Their next match is scheduled for October 21st against Huddersfield in the Championship.
