A tweet from Sean Longstaff that was posted a decade ago has resurfaced, revealing his deep affection for Newcastle United. This rediscovered tweet provides a striking illustration of how far the Newcastle United player has progressed in just 10 years.

Last week, the footballer from North Shields made headlines by scoring United’s third goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Longstaff, alongside fellow Geordie Dan Burn, etched his name on the scoresheet, marking a memorable and historic evening at St James’ Park.

Newcastle fans have now uncovered an intriguing tweet from Longstaff dated March 2013 when he was 25 years old. In the tweet, he exclaimed, “Tonight was unreal, when we scored they went right past me #nufc #ballboy.” This moment has come full circle, with fans commenting, “Fast forward a few years, and you scored against PSG,” and another fan noting, “The ball boys look up to you now, boss.”

Following the 4-1 victory, Longstaff had an emotional reflection on his time at the club, saying, “It’s been an incredible night. We anticipated it would be something special due to the atmosphere, but for Burny and me to score on a night like this is truly surreal. I’m at a loss for words, to be honest. Some of us believed we might have been on our way out three years ago, and it wasn’t a great situation. I’m immensely proud to hail from Newcastle, and I couldn’t be happier.”
