Gareth Ainsworth has emphasized his commitment to remaining in charge at QPR, despite their dismal performance in the Championship.
QPR suffered a 4-0 defeat against Blackburn Rovers in their recent match at Loftus Road, marking their third consecutive loss in a six-match winless streak. Currently, they sit at the 22nd position in the Championship standings and have not secured a single win at home this season under Ainsworth, the former Wycombe boss.
In this game, Blackburn dominated, with goals coming from Arnor Sigurosson, Tyrhys Dolan, and Sammie Szmodics, setting a club record with an 11th consecutive winless match at home.
When questioned about his job security, Ainsworth expressed his determination to continue leading the team. He emphasized his resilience, stating that he doesn’t fear adversity and believes in giving his best effort every day, from training to managing games. He’s aware that if his best isn’t enough, he will be informed, but for now, he intends to keep striving to improve himself and his players.
Ainsworth acknowledges the need to enhance their performance at home quickly, as earning points at home is crucial for teams aiming to avoid relegation. He believes in his ability to overcome tough situations, as he has faced challenges in football before, and his focus remains on hard work and improvement.
He expressed his desire to cultivate a winning mentality among the players and believes in the squad’s potential to collect enough points despite their recent struggles.
Reports have indicated that QPR is looking to secure striker Sinclair Armstrong with a new long-term contract, as he has attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Celtic. Armstrong, who is an Irish international, has made 11 Championship appearances, contributing one goal and two assists. His current contract is set to expire in June.
Armstrong also made his senior Ireland debut, coming on as a late substitute in their 2-1 home loss to the Netherlands.
