Journalist names brilliant ace as key target Liverpool now definitely interested in signing

Steve Kay was the first to break the news regarding Liverpool’s interest in Pedro Neto from Wolves, and it appears that other sources are now corroborating this claim. The update was shared by a Football Transfers journalist on X, coinciding with speculation about Mo Salah potentially leaving Anfield next summer.

In the event that Salah does depart, Pedro Neto has been included in the list of potential replacements. It’s important to note that the term “replacement” is used loosely here, as finding an identical player to fill Salah’s shoes is a challenging task.

Arsenal keeping tabs on Wolves star Pedro Neto

While Neto is undeniably talented, he should not be seen as a like-for-like replacement. Nevertheless, there is a strong belief that he could help address any potential creative gap on the right flank. According to Understat, the Portuguese star is one of the top creators of goal-scoring opportunities in the Premier League, boasting an expected assists (xA) score of 3.16.

This puts him in close proximity to several top players, including Bruno Fernandes (3.25), James Maddison (3.28), Moussa Diaby (3.28), and Kieran Trippier (3.49).

Salah’s exceptional xA score of 4.71 leads the pack by a considerable margin. However, it’s reasonable to assume that Neto’s numbers could improve when playing for a higher-quality team like Liverpool.
