Manchester City’s midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, is expected to make a decision about his future in November or December. He has been linked with moves to both Newcastle and Everton. Phillips, an English international, joined Manchester City from Leeds United in July 2022 for £42 million. However, due to injuries and tough competition for starting positions, he has only managed 26 appearances for Man City, with just four of them as starts.

This is a stark contrast to his time at Leeds, where he made 234 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 13 assists, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top defensive midfielders.

There have been suggestions that Pep Guardiola might consider loaning Phillips out in January to revive his career or even selling him for the right price. This has generated interest from several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, Newcastle, and Everton.

However, according to the latest update from Fabrizio Romano, there have been no concrete discussions between Manchester City and any club regarding Phillips’ future.

The 27-year-old may contemplate leaving the Etihad if his playing time doesn’t increase. Romano stated, “Despite links with Newcastle and Everton, I’m not aware of concrete talks on this one. Phillips wanted to stay at City this summer despite some approaches, so he’s still focused on doing his best for City and then a decision will be made later, like November or December.”

Newcastle is looking to strengthen its midfield, with manager Eddie Howe expressing interest in Phillips. As for Everton, Sean Dyche is also considering adding a new midfielder to the squad, especially with the possibility of losing key players due to the Africa Cup of Nations. While a loan move for Phillips to Everton seems likely, it remains to be seen whether a permanent deal could be arranged.
