West Ham ready to make bid for “spectacular” player

David Moyes seems to be planning for the upcoming January transfer window, with West Ham United boss expressing a desire to bolster his squad, particularly in one crucial position. Recent reports suggest that Moyes is actively pursuing opportunities to strengthen his team.

One area of focus is the midfield, with the Hammers looking to extend the contract of Lucas Paqueta in an effort to fend off interest from Manchester City. Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a move to Manchester City for several months, and his current contract includes a release clause of £85 million. There’s also speculation about a potential swap deal involving England international Kalvin Phillips.

Additionally, West Ham’s in-form midfielder Tomas Soucek has garnered interest from Inter Milan, but the club is reportedly trying to negotiate a new contract with the Czechia international. Moyes highly values Soucek’s contributions to the team and is looking to align his wages with the top earners at the club.

West Ham striker Michail Antonio has expressed his disappointment in Gareth Southgate’s omission of James Ward-Prowse from the England squad. He believes that Ward-Prowse’s consistent performance should earn him a place in the national team and questions the selection of players who are not actively playing.

Furthermore, West Ham is determined to pursue the signing of Atletico Mineiro left-back Guilherme Arana in the January transfer window. Following a scouting trip by West Ham’s officials, the club is reportedly keen to make a formal offer for the Brazilian international, who has made 20 appearances for Atletico Mineiro in 2023. Arana’s potential acquisition is seen as a means to reduce the workload on Emerson Palmieri and Aaron Cresswell on the left side of the defense. Arana, endorsed as “spectacular” by former Brazil Under-23 coach Andre Jardine, could be a valuable addition to the team.
