Defender Matty Platt has been suspended and will be unavailable for Bradford City’s upcoming match against Wrexham at Valley Parade. Platt, who has accumulated the most playing time in the outfield this season, received his fifth yellow card during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Wimbledon. This suspension means he will miss the match against Wrexham, who are known for their high-scoring Welsh team led by Phil Parkinson.
Interim manager Kevin McDonald has several options to replace Platt in the center-back position alongside Sam Stubbs.
Ash Taylor, who recently returned from an Achilles injury and completed a full game in the EFL Trophy against Grimsby, is a strong contender to make his first league start since the beginning of the season. Another candidate is Ciaran Kelly, who scored in the Grimsby match with an assist from Taylor and is a natural left-footer.
Bradford City also has the option of Jon Tomkinson, a defender on loan from Norwich, who will soon return from the USA Olympic training camp in Arizona. Additionally, the team has a friendly match against Japan under-23s in Phoenix tomorrow.
