West Brom manager Carlos Corberan may have an opportunity to secure the signing of Yann M’Vila, a player he’s been targeting. Despite being a free agent, M’Vila is still in search of a new club. During the summer, West Brom initiated contact with his agent, as reported by French outlet RMC Sport on October 14th. Interestingly, there were rumors linking M’Vila to Atletico Madrid, which made the West Brom connection even more intriguing.
Corberan and M’Vila have a history together from their time at Olympiacos, and Corberan reached out in the hopes of reuniting at West Brom. An update from Fabrizio Romano on October 16th revealed that M’Vila is still available as a free agent and hasn’t engaged in talks with Atletico Madrid despite the prior links. He’s been diligently training, working twice a day in Lyon, and is eager to find a new club soon.

The fact that M’Vila hasn’t been in discussions with Atletico and is open to new opportunities creates a window of opportunity for West Brom. Even if it’s a short-term deal until the end of the season, West Brom could offer M’Vila a place to play for the next seven months. Given West Brom’s financial constraints, Corberan has experience in acquiring free agents, making this move a logical choice.
M’Vila has been playing in the Greek Super League for the past three years, so transitioning to the Championship wouldn’t be a significant drop in status. A short-term contract allows both parties to reassess their options next summer.
While it might seem like wishful thinking, stranger things have happened in the world of football. If Corberan can work his magic, this signing could be a significant achievement for West Brom.
