Injury specialist Dr. Rajpal Brar has provided an update on the condition of Jeremy Sarmiento, the West Brom forward currently on loan from Brighton. Sarmiento is expected to be sidelined for the upcoming league match, which sees West Brom facing Plymouth Argyle on October 21, followed by a game against QPR at the Hawthorns.

According to Dr. Brar, Sarmiento experienced discomfort in his quadriceps muscles after his initial start, which appeared to be soreness at first but persisted as pain, even during a brief cameo appearance. Subsequent scans revealed a likely tear in the muscles, necessitating a period of rest. Once he has sufficiently recovered from the injury, the physiotherapists will gradually reintroduce him to full training.

Dr. Brar anticipates Sarmiento missing the next match but believes there is a possibility that he might be ready to return before the end of the month, which would make him available for games following the upcoming one.

Sarmiento initially felt the effects of his injury after his first start against Millwall and subsequently suffered a quadriceps injury.

Manager Carlos Corberan attributed the injury to Sarmiento’s lack of recent match fitness, as he hasn’t had much playing time in recent seasons. While it initially seemed like typical post-game fatigue, the issue has proven to be more serious.

Although Sarmiento is likely to sit out the Plymouth game, Corberan is hopeful that he will recover in time to be available for most of the matches leading up to the next international break.
