West Brom receives huge injury boost as outstanding ace set to return from long-term injury

West Brom’s Daryl Dike is gearing up for a comeback in the New Year, following his third major injury setback. His return is absolutely critical as he cannot afford any more significant setbacks, considering the challenging period he has endured at The Hawthorns.

Despite the hardships he has faced, Dike still holds a valuable advantage – his age. Surprisingly young at 23, he has time on his side and a substantial portion of his four-and-a-half-year contract remains, set to expire in the summer of 2026.

As Dike prepares to make his comeback, there is a sense of unease among the supporters. The proof of his capability will only become evident once he steps back onto the field. What everyone hopes for is a return to form similar to the period following the World Cup last year. During that time, he was reinserted into the team just before the break, and upon the return of football, he embarked on a remarkable run.

This included a memorable goal against Sunderland and several vital strikes, making a significant contribution in the early days of Carlos Corberan’s tenure.

Notably, he formed a successful partnership with Brandon Thomas-Asante on either side of Christmas, keeping both strikers fresh and influential, whether they started or came off the bench, consistently getting on the scoresheet.

However, tragedy struck again with a ruptured Achilles during a match at Stoke, and at the time, it was likened to the impact of a major injury like an ACL tear. Dike, known for his power and athleticism, has been plagued by muscle injuries, which could have a lasting impact on his career.

The future for Dike hinges on his performance upon his return in January. If he can finish the season without any further injuries and rediscover his scoring touch, West Brom will be in a favorable position with him.
