In his first press conference in a fortnight, Eddie Howe has provided an update on the injury situation leading up to the upcoming match against Crystal Palace.
Starting with the positive news, Howe expressed his “confidence” in Joelinton’s return, who had been dealing with a hamstring injury but has shown good progress during the break. However, Alexander Isak, who had a groin issue and had to withdraw from the Swedish national team last week, is yet to resume training, and a decision on his availability will be made closer to the match.
Sven Botman, who had a knee injury, is “making progress,” and the two-week break seems to have benefited him, though it remains uncertain if he’ll be fit for the upcoming game. Joe Willock, who had an Achilles problem, has returned to training this week for the first time, but it seems unlikely that he’ll be ready for this weekend’s match. Howe emphasized the need for a cautious approach in bringing Willock back and acknowledged his importance to the team.

Regarding Miley, who is dealing with glandular fever, Howe mentioned that he is currently in a phase of reduced physical activity, which will likely continue for a couple more weeks before gradually building up his fitness. This setback is unfortunate for both the player and the team, as Miley is considered a promising talent.
