Newcastle United establish contact to sign €30 million-rated Serie A defender

Newcastle United has initiated initial discussions with the aim of acquiring 21-year-old Genoa center-back Radu Dragusin. Reports from TvPlay suggest that the club is keen on securing the services of Dragusin, who has been in outstanding form lately. Newcastle has already reached out to the player’s agent and is earnest in their pursuit.

Dragusin began his journey in the Juventus youth squad in the summer of 2018 and rapidly progressed to their first team within three years. However, he struggled to receive adequate playing time and was frequently loaned out. In the summer of 2022, Dragusin joined Genoa initially on a season-long loan, but the move was made permanent before the start of the 2023-24 season. He has become a regular fixture in Genoa’s first team.

Since joining Genoa, Dragusin has appeared in 50 matches and has contributed to five goals, showcasing a remarkable improvement in his game. His performances have garnered attention, making him one of Italy’s most promising young defenders, and Newcastle United is eager to secure his services.

This season, Dragusin has already made 10 appearances and even captained the team in a league match. His remarkable ascent has piqued Newcastle United’s interest, and they are committed to pursuing him.

Following a successful takeover, Newcastle has been active in the transfer market and is now considered one of the top clubs in England, even competing in the Champions League this season. Under manager Eddie Howe, the team is determined to add young talent to their squad, particularly in defense, where Dragusin fits their requirements.

The club has made contact with Dragusin’s agent, Florin Manea, to discuss the player’s availability. Although no formal offer has been made, there is a strong possibility that Newcastle will make an offer soon.

Manea has indicated that Genoa is unlikely to part with Dragusin for less than €30 million, and he believes that only Premier League clubs can meet this asking price. Given Newcastle’s keen interest in Dragusin, it appears highly likely that he will make a move to the English club.
