The QPR goalkeeper was sent off after an alleged foul on Patrick Bamford.
Asmir Begovic, goalkeeper for Queen’s Park Rangers, claims he is still upset about the red card incident involving Patrick Bamford earlier this season at Elland Road.
After colliding with Whites attacker Patrick Bamford, the Hoops shot stopper was shown a straight red card in the final minutes of Leeds United’s 1-0 win over the Championship strugglers. It was a contentious call at the time, as replays revealed that no contract was created when the 36-year-old came out of his area towards Bamford, with Hoops boss Gareth Ainsworth admitting after the game that both players had notified him that no contract had been made.
While the red card, which forced Lyndon Dykes to finish the game in goal, came too late in the day to be a crucial factor in the outcome. QPR successfully appealed the red card ruling, allowing Begovic to play against Blackburn Rovers.
On Wednesday night, the former Stoke City goalkeeper sat on the sidelines as his former team defeated Daniel Farke’s side 1-0. Begovic claims he and Bamford are “fine,” but he quickly adds that the event still irritates him.

“Yeah, we’re all good,” Begovic said to Sky Sports. “Because we’ve known each other for a long time, he came straight after the game and we put it to rest.” I’m delighted the EFL took action, but I’m still upset that it happened at all.”
Leeds were defeated 1-0 against Stoke City, their third defeat of the Championship season. The game was decided by an own goal by Pascal Struijk.
