Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap is facing the possibility of an extended period on the sidelines due to another shoulder injury that he sustained while on loan at PSV Eindhoven. According to Voetbal International, PSV manager Peter Bosz has confirmed that Bella-Kotchap will not be available for their upcoming match against Ajax.
This shoulder injury is reportedly the fourth time in Bella-Kotchap’s career that he has experienced such a problem. The injury has been bothering him for about a week, causing him to miss recent games against Fortuna Sittard and Lens.
Bosz mentioned that it’s not his place to determine whether surgery is necessary for the player, and he expects the club to make an official statement regarding the situation early next week.
The report indicates that this shoulder injury has been a recurring issue for Bella-Kotchap. He missed seven games at VfL Bochum and had two separate spells on the sidelines at Southampton due to the same injury. In the previous season, he was also sidelined for ten games with a knee injury.
The outcome of Bella-Kotchap’s loan spell at PSV remains uncertain, and it will depend on whether he requires surgery. Regardless, it seems that his loan spell is in jeopardy due to the reemergence of this old injury, causing problems at his new club.
