We have already reported that Newcastle could sign Ruben Neves, the former Wolves midfielder, on loan in January.
Newcastle will need to bring in a midfielder in early January to fill the place left by Tonali, who has been given a worldwide ban from football by FIFA until late August next year.
Neves now plays at Saudi Pro club Al-Hilal, which are owned by the Saudi Arabia PIF, the Newcastle owners.
So it would seem like an easy deal to make as long as we do everything legally – by the books.
And news today that the 26-year-old Neves would consider moving to Newcastle as a dream move, and he is keen to join Newcastle – very keen.
The Sun are now reporting that Newcastle will swoop for Neves, who cost the Saudi Pro League club £47M in the summer.
And Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that Neves already wants to return to the Premier League, and a loan move to Newcastle would be a dream move for him.
I suppose we could do a deal for Neves with an option to buy him next summer, depending on how he performs for Newcastle during the second half of this important season for the club.
This deal could be done so that Neves arrives at Newcastle on 1st January.
The new news here from yesterday is that Neves seems desperate to join Newcastle and that will help us get a deal completed – rather quickly.
That’s good news if the owners and Eddie Howe decide Neves is the man to replace Tonali this season.
