Newcastle United had to make an early tactical adjustment in their Carabao Cup match against Manchester United, and this decision had a significant impact on the game.

At the start of the game, Matt Targett was included in Newcastle’s starting lineup and was positioned in midfield. However, he suffered an injury within just five minutes, leading to his substitution with Miguel Almiron. This forced Eddie Howe to reorganize his team once again.

This substitution at Old Trafford resulted in Joelinton moving back into the midfield, with Almiron taking up a position on the left wing. This change ultimately played a crucial role in Newcastle taking the lead.

A remarkable run down the right side by Tino Livramento eventually led to a pass that set up Almiron. With a skillful left-footed shot, Almiron cleverly placed the ball beyond Andre Onana and into Manchester United’s net. This outstanding goal was made possible by the early tactical adjustment made by Howe.

The match proved to be a standout performance for the Paraguayan player, Almiron, who was initially expecting to have some rest while on the bench. However, he ended up playing almost the entire game and played a significant part in Newcastle’s 3-0 victory, which propelled them to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Following the game, Almiron shared his celebration photos on social media, and his teammate Bruno Guimaraes responded with a message.

At Old Trafford, both players celebrated together, with Bruno warming up in that area of the pitch when Almiron scored the crucial goal. They shared an embrace on the field, highlighting the strong bond they’ve developed since Bruno joined Newcastle at the start of 2022.

Bruno was visibly delighted for Almiron, and their celebration resonated with the passionate Toon fans both in the stadium and those watching from home.

This goal marked Almiron’s fourth of the season, and he has consistently delivered in important victories, finding the back of the net against Sheffield United, Burnley, Paris Saint-Germain, and now Manchester United.

Bruno Guimaraes is absolutely right in acknowledging what a talented player Miguel Almiron is.
